We all know what it feels like to be followed - either literally or figuratively. Either little, needy children are following you every waking moment or deadlines and responsibilities are or maybe both.
This morning I read, "Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life." (Psalm 23:6a) Every day for the rest of your life you can always expect that, when you look over your shoulder, there you will find God's goodness and mercy right on your heels.

I like this verse. The very interesting thing about it in the Hebrew is that it uses the Hebrew word that is elsewhere translated "Pursuing, overtaking or attacking" (I think those are the three verbs) and is used in places where one army is pursuing the other...
So I like the imagery of goodness and mercy not only passively following me, but actively attacking me, overtaking me, pursuing me all the days of my life.
Oh, I'm so glad that you mentioned that about the Hebrew. I starting looking it up to find the exact meaning of it, because I kind of had a hunch that it meant something more along the lines of "pursuing, overtaking, attacking" or even "stalking." So, thanks for mentioning that here! Even MORE encouraging!
