Stress in Relationships

In the last few weeks, Derek and I have been working hard to finish up this semester at school, and we realized something (which we realize afresh at the end of every semester) - we turn into frazzled, crabby, quick-to-take-offense, selfish zombies. Ever been there?

Here is the lie that I have believed for way too long: I have the RIGHT to be a frazzled, crabby, quick-to-take-offense, selfish zombie when I am stressed out (Derek doesn't get to have that right, of course)!

Here is the truth: "No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it." (I Cor. 10:13)

So, we continue to look for "the way of escape" and having a healthy marriage during easy and stressful times. But if any of you have advice or wisdom to offer, we'd love to hear it!

I still wish I could speak another language fluently so that when I got mad I could spout off stuff that would sound impressive, but not be swearing. "Ciya Khaso pano! Dzina lako ind wandani! Ndikukond maningi kanankani wanga!" (sounds mean, but I really said, "Leave the hoe here! What is your name? I love you very much my small whatever!") Ok, so my heart attitude is still wrong...

Sounds like the Lord is teaching you lots. :)
